Event Overview
A Governor General Award-winning playwright and actor; a pioneering Canadian conductor who founded the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir; one of the country’s most celebrated oboeists; and a Grammy Award-winning cellist.
Those are the four panelists set to appear at the NTCI Alumni Foundation’s upcoming Speaker Series event, “The Art of Making Art,” featuring notable alumni in classical music and the performing arts. Join us on June 14 at 7 pm for this not-to-be-missed virtual Zoom panel, featuring Karen Hines, Ivars Taurins, Sarah Jeffrey and Dorothy Lawson, along with moderator Joshua Chong, performing arts critic with the Toronto Star.
All ticket proceeds from this event will go towards the Foundation’s Wellness Fund. Developed in response to Canada’s ballooning youth mental health crisis, and in partnership with the NTCI Guidance Department, this fund will support student mental health and wellness initiatives at the school. These include—but are not limited to—individual counselling with a health professional or social worker, participation in programs developed by organizations providing mental health support to students, or any other initiative which, at the discretion of the Guidance Department, is considered to be effective in assisting NTCI students with their mental health needs.
