R.R.H.PAGE VALEDICTORY PRIZE

R.R.H. (Bud) Page was a teacher of Latin and Greek at North Toronto from 1928 to 1950. Later, he became the school’s fourth Principal (1959-1970). His philosophy of excellence for North Toronto helped the school to weather the storm of the turbulent 60s.

THE KERR TROPHY FOR YOUNG WOMEN

Hugh Leonard Kerr was served as school trustee on the Toronto Board of Education from 1922 to 1933 and, and in 1926, he was Chairman of the Board. In 1928 he established the Kerr Trophy to honour our outstanding graduates.

THE SIFTON TROPHY FOR YOUNG MEN

Clifford Sifton was a student at North Toronto (1933-1938). Mrs. Harold Sifton presented the Sifton Trophy to the school in 1939, not only to acknowledge the school’s contribution to the education of her son, but to commemorate the contributions of the Sifton family to the public life of our country.

HAL BROWN “TRIPLE A” AWARD

Hal Brown came to North Toronto in 1946. Although he retired from teaching of history in 1983, he contributed as an outstanding coach of track and field events. The “Triple A” Award honours his positive “Attitude” and commitment to Academic and Athletic excellence.

BETTY BEALEY LAUREATESHIP IN ENGLISH

Betty Bealey graduated from North Toronto in 1931. She won a number of university scholarships as well as the Kerr Trophy. As a teacher of English from 1941-1972, she won the admiration and love of thousands of young people.

SENATOR KEITH DAVEY AWARD

Senator Keith Davey is a graduate of North Toronto. To honour the Senator’s commitment to Canadian history, politics and culture, the winner of the Senator Keith Davey Award, a Grade 10 student, represents the school at the Encounters with Canada conference.

ELVINO SAURO AWARD

Elvino Sauro was a brilliant trumpeter, continuing to play after he graduated from North Toronto in 1952. He played in both the Alumni Band and Orchestra at the 100th Anniversary celebration concert in 2012. The Elvino Sauro Award, started in 2013, is granted to music students in grades 9 to 11 who demonstrate great enthusiasm and promise in music but may be in need of assistance to fund music enrichment opportunities such as private lessons or music camps. The recipients are chosen by the North Toronto music teachers, and the scholarship proceeds go directly toward funding such enrichment activities.
