We pause on November 11th each year to remember.  To mark the end of the First World War in 1918, and to honour the people who have served and continue to serve Canada in times of war, conflict, and peace.

More than 2.3 million Canadians have served, and almost 120 thousand have made the ultimate sacrifice. Over 1,200 of these were students of North Toronto; 129 of whom were killed in the line of duty.

When they were students at North Toronto, they would have been pursuing studies, enjoying life, and participating in extra-curricular activities. They were someone’s child, grandchild, sibling, and friend and they all left to serve so that future generations would have their rights protected.

It is all too easy for us to take for granted what others have bravely fought for, and it is on days like these, we pause, to remember those who fought for our liberties and justice. Thank you to Mr. Taylor and Mr. Hobson, along with the other members of the Remembrance Day Committee, for their time and efforts to organize our Remembrance Day ceremonies.
