Understanding Learning Disabilities and How They Affect Youth

Kate Cressman joins us from the Child Development Institute where she works as a Community Education & Engagement Facilitator. Kate will take us through an experiential workshop called Walk a Mile in My Shoes where you’ll learn about the current thinking in the field of learning disabilities and develop an understanding of how they can affect the mental health and everyday life of our youth.

Date:      Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Location: Room 215, N.T.C.I.

This special event is brought to you by the North Toronto School (Parent) Council.  Attending NT Council Meetings is an excellent way to keep current on NT activities and to share information with other NT parents. We look forward to seeing you!

Art Council Presents Semaines Blanches 2015

Beginning February 17th look around the school for amazing installations created and designed by the students.

There are two main installations:

  1. Global-visualize-ation: Tape Bodies
Each individual has a different perspective; that’s what makes our world unique. Tape bodies reveal the value of perspective and uniqueness.
  2. Dropping the Negativity: Umbrellas
Negative words impact us more than the positive ones do. Some days in life are like walking against a storm of judgment – it’s difficult to keep hopes up when the rain of criticism pours down.
Umbrellas shield the negativity and allow you to dance in the rain. Repelling the negative, but letting the positive stick.

IVEY Business School Case Competition

We are proud to share the news that our team of four NT students grabbed the gold (Liat Fainman-Adelman), silver (Jennifer Kaminker), and bronze (Jonah Feldberg) in the 9th annual IVEY Business school case competition. Students are placed by IVEY administrators on mixed teams of five or six students who compete against other teams assembled from students across the province. This is an invitation only event and many of the big private schools are in attendance (BSS, Branksome, Crescent, Appleby, Royal St. George, etc.) NTCI is the only public high school in the province to be invited every year. This year was NT’s best showing ever, and as a school (though they don’t hand out school prizes) we finished first out of about 12 or 13 schools.
