About Us:

North Toronto's Robotics Club has been a lasting tradition at our school for the past 16 years, as the club was started in 1997. Robotics involves the entering and building into a major robotics competition in Toronto. In the past, our team has partisipated in one of the most recognized international competitinos in the rold for high school robotics- the FIRST Robotics Challenge (or FRC). FRC consisted of beilding a mashine that would accomplish several different tasks as designated in the rules for the year, and our team managed to always do reasonably well, playing in the top 50 of Ontario consistantly (and once or twice in the top 20-30). In 2008, we changed to the FTC (the FIRST Technical Challenge), and came out on to. We resulted in 26th place individually, and when chosen for the alliance, we came in 1st place. (More history needed)

The Design and Build team comes up with blueprints and designs to build a robot that strategically can compete in the tournament. They then build it in a systematic method. No experience is necessary to join. Programming Team is in charge of robot functions (The robot must be programmed to do everything with a code called easyC), Autonomous mode, Sequences of movement, and the autonomous challenge. Some knowledge of computer science is required for those programming.

Robotics has a lot to offor to all members, as well as the community. Members gain massive amounts of experience in tems of building, design, programming, strategy, handling, pressure, use of technology, cooperation, and problem solving. Members have testified to the amazing satisfaction of going to the competition and actually seeing the product of thier labors competing (and succeding). Robotics has much to offer in all areas and fields as well. For those who our entrepreneurs, our team is always in need of monetary quantities, and therefore we can(and have in the past) make a buisness section to our team for scouting and budgeting. There's leadership opportunity too, as any member willing to commit can be allowed to run a section of the team (I.E. design, build, programming, buisness, etc). By enriching the lives of the student, our robotics team has and will continue to prominently benifit our community.

Robotics is open to ALL grade members, so consider joining!
