Alan Ogilvie, one of the key organizers of NTCI\u2019s 75th Anniversary, passed away in\u00a0Collingwood on July 4, 2017, after a short illness. He was born in Toronto in 1936, and\u00a0his interest in music \u2013 an interest that continued all his life \u2013 blossomed at NT, where he\u00a0played the cello in the school\u2019s fledgling music program.<\/p>\n
After graduating from NT, Alan studied engineering at the University of (Class of \u201959).\u00a0He then founded and ran Ogilvie Consultants Limited for 35 years until his retirement.\u00a0Alan was a man of many interests, an avid sailor and skier who travelled extensively to\u00a0participate in sailing competitions and to search out \u201cgood powder\u201d!A kind and gentle\u00a0person, he possessed a great sense of volunteerism \u2013 as evidenced in his work with many\u00a0arts organizations including NTCI, the Cathedral Bluffs Orchestra (in which he was also\u00a0a performing member) and other groups. He also passed his love of music on to his sons,\u00a0Andrew and Cameron, both of whom also graduated from NTCI.<\/p>\n
A celebration of Alan\u2019s life was held on Saturday, July 15th in Collingwood, followed by\u00a0a reception at the Toronto Ski Club. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Diane, his two\u00a0sons, three grandchildren, and two sisters as well as all who had the privilege of knowing\u00a0him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
