H3> Pros
Thanks to the internet, it is possible to talk with someone on the other side of the world as if they are in the same room as you. Businesses can hold video conferences instead of paying for people to fly in for meetings.
Anything you could ever imagined can be found in detail on the internet. There are millions of websites that are dedicated to all different types of topics. This information helps people to better understand things that they may have never even known existed.
Online access to information makes everything that we do, more efficient, and more eclectic.
Everything that you search or put onto the internet is completely traceable to the person it belongs to.
Computer viruses are very common and are becoming more and more aggressive. For people struggling to fit in with their peers, especially teens and young adults, the pressure to do certain things or act a certain way can be even worse on social media than it is at school. Sometimes, this can lead to serious stress, anxiety and even depression.
People get distracted by all the social apps and news and messages they receive, leading to all sorts of problems like distracted driving or the lack of gaining someone's full attention during a conversation.
Although having online access can help with research, it also provides many distractions. (Social Media notifications showing up, videogames, youtube…)
Also, because of how easy it is to access information online, in any subject, it also augments the problem of plagiarism. Now, someone could easily send the answers for the math homework, or search up and instantly find essays on your topic that other people have done.
Something that is very evident in many of these cons, and is likely one of the biggest negative impacts on society, is that devices have made people much lazier. You no longer need to go to the library and read a few books trying to find the information you need, because now you just type it in, and can copy and paste pieces of information that you need.
In conclusion, there are many pros, and many cons to having online access to information. If we use the information we have access too, in a good way and in a controlled amount, it can have an amazing impact on every aspect of our lives, but if we depend on our devices, it will control our lives and have a very negative impact.
