There are 3 major Ways to access information using technology:

The first way we access information using technology is with Wikis. Wikis are very different from regular websites because for one, they are user updated, which means that They are written and updated by people using and visiting the website, they call this "a collaborative edit, if you can read it you can edit it" (1) . This is good because it allows all the information to always be correct because its always being edited and mostly by people who know the information well, this allows the information to be very accurate.

There are many benefits to wikis such as ,anyone can edit, easy to learn and use, different people work together alowing information to be precise, and they are very accessible .(2) There are a few negatives to wikis like the fact that they are open for somebody to spam and there can be no confidential information due to the user editing, and it requires internet conncetion (2) .
Wikis are also influence a lot of people in the world. They provide information to people all over the world and are used very often, allowing people to access information whenever and wherever making reasearch a whole lot easier, people also learn off them by reading information by people who specialize in that field. So as you can see, wikis influence a lot of people lives and make reasearch and learning easier, especially with the user edit.

The second way people access information using technology is:


Instant Messaging

The second way we access information using technology is by using intant messaging Instant messaging users know the names, numbers, or usernames of the their account or phone so they can add them to their contact list, allowing them to easily contact that person and to always easily find their converstation.
Benefits Negatives Example
Instant messaging applications provide many benefits such as, it allows real-time communication between two or more people, you also don't have to pay long distance fees like calling, and they are conveniant (3). There are also downsides to instant messaging like the fact that you could easily be recieving a virus because they could send you a corrupted file over the messaging service, they are also bad for sending sensative information because you do not aways no if someone is with the other person or who may be looking at the messages (3).
As you can see instant mesaging is very benefitial and influential on very day lives because they make communication easier and it is effective. There are so many ways it can be used like for work or socially, these are used every day.

The last way we use technology to access information is:


Social Media Sites


The last and most influential way we access information is through social media sites. The are helpful and used evryday constantly because it provides so many different types of information like life updates, news reports, political updates, advertisment and many more. So you can see why these are used so often and how they provide people with lots of different iformation.
Benefits Negatives Example
There are many benefits to social media sites like the fact that you are staying connected with friends and family, these sites alow you to know what they are doing in life and to always talk and connect with them. Another advantage is that it is a great promotional tool, lots of companies use these sites for their ads to get their products across and known, this leads us to another advantage which is the fact that information spreads incredibly fast. Important information spreads like "WILDFIRE" on these sites and are taken seriously if needed (4). There are also negatives to theses sites like the fact that people often get cyberbullied on these sites They can also be addicting and can also get hacked, which means you can lose private information (5).
As you can see there are so many benefits to these social media sites. This shows how they influnce so many lives around the world because there are so many users on these sights and they are all constantly gaining so much information of different kinds.
So as you can see there are so many ways people access information using technology and they all can be very beneficial even though there are a few negatives to them they still influence millions of lives around the world.
