Effects computers have on the job market

The job market fluctuates constantly revolving around different trends and needs. We are seeing jobs increasing in demand, a large number of these revolve around computers directly and non directly. Although some jobs are increasing in demand naturally jobs are being replaced by evolving technology that is more reliable and efficient.

Jobs that are be replace

Majority of the jobs at risk of being replace are manual labor and jobs that don't take much training. Assembly-lines and factory workers could see drastic changes in their work place coming really soon. producers are changing to robots to take over the assembly lines because of the long time benefits. "A robot can work 24/7 with little to no pay or benefits, and is often faster than a human with fewer errors" (1) most major manufacturers now a days already have robots. computer are also expanding in technology and have now been put in cars so that they can drive themselves. In the near future this could replace taxi drivers, delivery men, truck drivers and uber drives. Some common used machines use to be peoples jobs: Bank tellers and clerks have been replaced by ATMs and cashiers at grocery stores are also being replace by self check out machines which can be watched over by one person. a good website that covers a lot of jobs effected check out.

Hard, Dangerous and dull jobs have declined

New Opportunities

Although some jobs are being replace by technology more jobs are being created then destroyed. In the UK there has been an increase in auxiliaries and assistants by 909%. In 1992 there were 29,743 workers in this field and in 2014 we see an increase to 300,201. We have also seen an increase in jobs that require knowledge-intensive sectors. In educating, medicine, professional service and many more jobs technology has accelerated production rates and productivity while also employment rate has risen. The biggest employment growth is in "IT" jobs. They are expected to increase from 28% to 32% but this depends on software development. As long as tech is developing the demand for developers and designers for the devices will be in heavy demand. We have also seen an increase in the demand for coders. Robots are taking over the dangerous jobs

Being a soldiers in one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. The United States Military has started using automated drones that replace pilots. These drones can do surveillance and can carry out attacks by drones doing this it removes the risk of being a pilot. There are also machines that replace ground soldiers that can be controlled from a save area. Technology has improved so much that robots can immediately alert authorities and people when they sense threats and danger. Robots are also being made to replace bomb squad workers removing people from being harmed when trying to defuse a bomb. The robots are still controlled by professionals but put them far enough away that they are out of harms way of the blast. They also detect bombs so that soldiers, police and citizens don't accidentally set them off. In this case replacing these jobs is beneficial as it removes people from harms way while giving an adequate substitute which is only getting better. (1)

Benefits for smaller companies

Small businesses also profit from the acceleration of technology. We have seen an increase in personal traits like Barbers, Taylor's and bar tenders. This is due to the fact that people have more money to spend on taking care of themselves. While the increase in these jobs don't directly related to the acceleration of tech it is a by product that has gained business because of other people success. Although some companies are working to add systems that could replace these jobs, as of right now they are positively benefiting from the evolution of technology. For more information click here .
