as well as the lives of people in various countries around the world,
in both positive and negative ways?

Intro

Having electronic access to information has made lives easier than many can possibly imagine. Many people can easily say they cannot live without their phone, but in reality, how much would not be having electronics and electronic information change lives? Electronic information can be used for many things in many ways like social media, and for entertainment, or to communicate, or for larger things like education, business and politics. Things like this affect our daily lives because what we say, do, and see online will affect how we act, how we see things, and how we think. For example, if we saw that our mayor was going to get rid of carbon tax because he believes climate change is a hoax, many supporters, and views will start believing that climate change is not real and there is no need to concern ourselves with it. Not only does it affect the mayors, but also how we see the world. We use the internet to share and store information, and to create a place to stay updated on all events and issues all over the world. 1

The access to electronic information has influenced us in many ways. By using the internet, it breaks what we believe is the base of reality. Privacy and identity are two main things we lose when we use the internet. In return of giving up privacy, we get to see things catered towards us, and by giving up identity, we get to be whoever we want behind a screen. With SNS sites growing at a rapid speed, and many people adapting to use internet to fit out needs, the internet starts to influence us in many ways. 2

Positive Effects Thumbs up!

There are many things that are positive influences to us that are connected to the use of internet. There are many new things we can do, and even create using the access to information online. Now, we can find everything online, from how to use new technology, to how to format essays. We can do everything, and anything online, which helps us become smarter, and more intelligent individuals. Another positive influence is the growth of social networking sites, and societies all over the world. No matter what your hobbies, likings, or interests may be, there is always a community online for it. The internet removes a limit for anything, whether that may be for the best or worst. Good examples of the use of social networking sites are coming together to break stereotypes, or to take down a statement made by a political figure that may have not been the best. 3
The internet also removes barriers between people made by countries. Many people travelling long distances away from friends and family do not have to worry about being "away" for too long, because of video calls, and chats we use now. Now, we use sites like Instagram. Twitter, and Facebook to constantly stay connected with people far from us, due to distance. It also lets us connect with people out of reach to us physically, and now has even started helping us make online relationships like online friends or relationships. There are positive factors like the convenience of constant information, growth of societies online all over the world, and breaking limits within people, and most people stick to keeping the internet a safe place to be, and a great tool to use, but not everybody has been treated the best when it comes to the internet. 4

Negative Effects

Thumbs up!

The internet is a temporary hidden space. Everybody gets to build a person that they want to be, and play that role online, but that doesn't always end up being a good thing. Now, people use the internet to cyber-bully others, and bring other people down. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the world. It is one of the few causes that cannot be stopped, unlike catching a murderer, or finding a cure. Suicide is caused by things people thing, or have been told, which creates thoughts in their head. In 2013, there were 1748 deaths caused by suicide, between the ages of 15-19, which largely have been impacted by the use of internet. 81% of teens have admitted its easier to bully people online, which shows that hiding behind a screen let's teens say whatever they want to whoever they want, because they believe they won't face the consequences.
5 Its very hard to be safe on the internet. With the "help" of hackers, we have almost little to no privacy when it comes to entering personal information online. The hardest part of this is the use of cashless payments. Now, people use internet transactions, and shopping stores to order and buy the things they need. In these cases, the government and trusted sites work hard, and try their best to hide card information, or billing addresses but, there are many cases where hackers win. Even political campaigns have been hacked, showing the dark side of politics, and political figures. In many cases, the use of internet and the reality that hackers do exist have not worked in favor of regular users. Its best to believe that online, you're always being watched. 6

Conclusion

In conclusion, although the internet is a great place, and it helps us finish tasks and do great things, there's always a concern that comes with using it. The internet and access to information online helps us grow to become stronger people, lets us meet many people virtually, and even helps people share their happiness all over the world. In that happiness, there are bad people trying to find anything they can take and use against the happiness, like bullies, hackers, and indirect hatred towards a user, but in the future, it is in our hands to let the good power over power the bad, and protect the internet. In every seed of good there is always a piece of bad, but its our decision whether we want to grow the good part of the seed or not.
