Why have computer related jobs have increased?
Technology is a major part of our everyday lives. Most of us use computer tech such as cars, phones, TV's, radio's, and
clocks on a day to day basis. So much of our lives is revolved around it. With the population of the world evergrowing, there is
more need for new technologies. Obviously, there are people who need create and build this tech. Because of this, many more jobs are
opening for people with the skills or desire to learn them(4).Another reason for the increase in the computer related job field has
to do with a lack of other jobs. Because of the increase in smarter technology, many jobs that were originally taken by a person, are
now being taken by a robot (5). As a large company, it makes more sense to have a robot take a person's job because you
no longer have to pay them. For example, many assembly line workers no longer have jobs because it is a very easy job to replace
with a robot(5). Another example is drivers. As technology for self driving cars is developed, there is no longer much need
for drivers(5). The loss of jobs in these areas leads to unemployed people who need to find a new area of work. Many
end up in some sort of computer related job because of the amount of open jobs available(4).
Why is it important for these jobs to exist and increase?
As the human race we constantly want to evolve and improve. This includes our technological advancements. We want to discover new and
exciting ways to live and enjoy life. With this field of work increasing, there is only more chances for us to discover how to make
amazing new technology that could potentially solve climate change, world peace, or cure cancer. Recently in Waterloo there have been conversations
on how to improve public transportation in the future (3) . They have been testing an Automated Vehicle Pilot program in Ontario under strict
restrictions as to keep the public safe. This artificial intelligence(AI) technology could make roads safer, and could lead to new jobs
and businesses. This project could make Ontario the leader in this innovative field (3). This is a prime example on how important these jobs are.
With the creative minds of the world developing technology, we allow a better and safer future.
