Too Much is Too Bad..!
Ever wondered how smartphones affect our lives? High technologies and smartphones have become an essential part of our lives. Thanks to smartphones, now everyone has many ways to communicate. Smartphones have reshaped our lifestyles, ways of shopping and ways of working. Smartphones connect people from country-to-country across the globe and allows people to capture memorable moments, listen to music, to be updated to news, and especially for emergencies. But there is one question that experts have been asking- How is smartphones affecting our mental health? Use of smartphones can become an addiction that can affect one's mental and physical health.
An increase of use in wireless devices has raised concerns about mobile radiation and its effect on the health. Studies have shown that the overuse of cellphones can destruct the cells in human health. Electromagnetic radiation that is released by mobile can cause cells in human body to heat up and it can be damage overtime. Too much use of mobile phones may lead to physical harm like direct brain warming after using phone for too long, tumors, memory impairment, brain damage, fetus damage, and cancer. However; the negative effects of spending too much on smartphones are not always immediately visible. Smartphones has been known to cause stress, isolation and is associated with some common mental health disorder. Mostly teens or students are the one who are very addicted to cell phones. Cell phones does not only affect teens mental health but also their studies. Smartphones sometimes make students mark lower because they focus more on being updated to everything on social media than prioritizing their studies. (2)

Smartphones does really connect people from far away but addiction to smartphones can separate us from our friends and families. Many people cannot even survive 24 hours without their cell phone. People who are addicted to their phones even sleep right next to them or take their smartphones to the bathroom.

Signs of Addiction:

Smartphones are common and there is no way to get rid of it and no living without it. Smartphones are already part of our lives. Instead of totally avoiding the use of phone, one can be more be careful and know the time consumes of when and where to use smartphones (3)

CHALLENGE: After school when you get home, leave your phone anywhere in your house where you cannot access it easily, a place that is far from you when you are doing your homework, and do it for 2 hours. Try not holding or touching your phone for 2 hours.

Laptop

It is said that inventions change the way we live..!
Computers and Laptops are commonly used in many fields in our world. These devices have demonstrate to be important and essential especially to people who manage large businesses, organizations and industries. As we see today, laptops serve as "personal digital assistant" in the literal sense of term. Computers have affected our lives in great way, almost everything now is run and powered by computers. For example, space exploration devices and machines are designed by the use of computers. One of the major impacts of computer is communication. The level of communication have expanded through computers as now everyone can be connected to their families and friends all around the world. Big business companies also use computers during business deals, conference and meetings. Nonetheless, the film industries will not be successful as it is now if it is not because of computers. You may and may not believe it but our world is now run by technology and computers. (4)

Top 7 uses of computers:

  •       Schools, Colleges, and Universities around the world uses computer to teach students digitally and visually. The use of computers in a classroom makes the students brain to explore creativity and imagination. The use of Power Point presentation, Prezi, Microsoft and etc. are very useful for students to learn more and expand their knowledge. Through computers small classrooms, digital classrooms, and smart classrooms are created so people can communicate wheter they are at school or not. Everyone knows that Education is the most important in our life. Computers have impacted our education system, students now are also allowed to take classes online (ex. Summer school or get Tutored). To become more educated people now use computers to be skillful and this is one of the benefits of computers in our daily life.

Business around the world are powered by computers. With a computer that has an internet one can start a business, run the business and manage the business by using computers. Google, Facebook, Amazon and etc. are websites that are run by computers. In early 1822, when the first computer was inventd by Charles Babbage, the computer does not even resemble the computer we have today. The computer was only designed to control the business system but today everything is control and run by computers. Business and conpanies now use computers for advertising, marketing, business planing and recording data. (5)

    Conclusion

    Technology gives Energy..!!
Technology has made our lives so much easier that all we have to do now is press a button to get many job done. Modern technology has made it easier for students to gain knowledge through virtual classrooms and online classes. Students can study at their own pace from anywhere at their own convenience. A smartphone, laptop or any other device coupled with internet and we can access any relevant information while on the move. Access to the Internet has simplified the ways in which we can stay up-to-date today. However; these positive effects does really have helped us, there are always negative effects that comes along with the positive. We are overly becoming more dependent on technology to take care of everything. We tend to get helpless when one of our gadgets fail to perform. Increased dependency on modern tools that provide instant solutions have reduced our creativity and intelligence. For example, we no longer rely on mental calculations when we have the calculator at our disposal. I think that these new technologies are making us rely more on machines and less on people. Because of all the technological advances, human workers get replaced as machines can do more work in less time and more accuracy, also thanks to social networks, online gaming, and new gadgets, we spend most of our time in the virtual world rather than interacting with real people.
