Information For Incoming Grade 9 Students

NOTE: The Mathematics Placement Test for the grade 9 enrichment program for incoming grade 8 students will be on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in Rm 422, 423 & 424 at NT. Registration deadline for the enrichment Placement Test is March 1, 2013.  On the Placement Test day, please bring a photocopy of  recent Grade 8 report card with the math mark and the average of all subjects, pencils and eraser.  No calculator is allowed.

The aim of the department is to provide our students the best opportunities, an inviting learning environment, innovative methods and the effective use of the latest affordable technological tools to assist them in learning and exploring mathematics and computer science. This enables North Toronto students to have a solid foundation for their post secondary education and to adapt themselves to the challenges of the fast changing world of information technology.

Policy of writing make-up test:
  1. Students who miss a test due to illness are permitted to write a make-up test if a parent's note or doctor's certificate is presented. They should write the make-up test the next morning before school or on the 1st day when they return before the test is returned to the class.
  2. Students who miss a test due to school sponsored events, music performances, field trips, athletic competitions or games are permitted to write the test ahead of time or the next morning before school starts. It is the student's responsibility to inform the teacher in advance of the test.
  3. Students who miss tests due to death in the family, long term illness or injuries etc, will be dealt with individually.
