Screen Readers

Screen readers are software programs that convert computer outputs and text entering cues to audible major spoken languages to allow blind or visually impaired users to read the text that is displayed on the computer screen. The user sends commands to the computer be pressing different combinations of keys on the keyboard or braille display, which in turn instructs the screen reader what to say and to speak automatically when a change occurs on the screen. A command from the user can instruct the screen reader to read or spell a word, read a full line or screen, or announce the cursors location. With regard to price, screen readers range from being free, up to $1,200. [2]
